Bereavement Counselling in Henley-on-Thames

Support when loss feels overwhelming or hard to carry alone

Losing someone you love can turn life upside down. Grief doesn’t follow a set pattern or timeline, and many people find themselves struggling in ways they didn’t expect, feeling numb, tearful, angry, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward.

At Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Henley-on-Thames, we offer bereavement counselling for children, young people, and adults who are navigating grief and loss. This includes support for those bereaved by suicide, where the experience of grief can feel particularly complex or isolating.

Whether your bereavement is recent or many years ago, counselling can provide a supportive space to explore what you’re carrying and find steadier ways to live alongside your loss.

Make sense of grief

Understanding your experience of loss with care and compassion.

Feel less alone

Being supported through difficult emotions without judgement.

Find steadier footing

Living alongside loss over time as life continues forward.

What You Can Expect

Bereavement counselling offers a calm, confidential space to talk openly about your loss and how it has affected you. Grief can bring many emotions, sadness, guilt, anger, relief, confusion,  and these can change over time. Therapy provides room for all of this, without judgement or pressure to “move on”.

Sessions are paced carefully and shaped around your needs. Some people want space to talk about the person they’ve lost; others want support managing day-to-day life, relationships, or the impact grief is having on their mental health. We work with you to understand what feels most helpful at this point in your journey.

Grief following suicide can bring additional layers, such as shock, guilt, unanswered questions, or stigma. Where this is part of your experience, we can support you carefully and sensitively, and help you access bereavement by suicide counselling if that feels more appropriate.

  • A calm, supportive environment
  • Experienced bereavement counsellors
  • Space to grieve in your own way
  • Support paced to you
  • In-person or online sessions
