Support when your mind won’t switch off
Many people come to counselling because they feel overwhelmed, stuck in their own thoughts, or unable to switch their mind off. You might find yourself replaying conversations, questioning decisions, worrying about getting things wrong, or feeling constantly on edge without knowing exactly why.
If you’ve already reached out for support and found yourself waiting for NHS counselling, it can make things feel even more difficult. When your mind is already busy, being told to wait can add another layer of uncertainty.
For some, this experience is clearly linked to anxiety. For others, it shows up as overthinking, emotional exhaustion, or a sense of carrying too much internally. At Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Henley-on-Thames, we offer counselling for anxiety that helps you make sense of what’s happening in your mind and body, and find steadier ways of coping, without pressure to have everything worked out before you begin.
Many people we work with feel exhausted by constant self-monitoring, overthinking decisions, or worrying about getting things wrong. Counselling for anxiety focuses on understanding how anxiety shows up for you, emotionally, physically, and mentally. Anxiety is not the same for everyone, and therapy is tailored to your individual experiences, triggers, and needs.
Sessions offer a calm, non-judgemental space to explore worries, fears, and avoidance patterns, as well as to develop practical tools for managing anxiety day to day. Therapists may draw on approaches such as CBT, mindfulness-based strategies, relaxation techniques, or other evidence-informed methods, always guided by what feels helpful and appropriate for you.
