Counselling placements at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre are designed to support trainees in the later stages of recognised counselling training. Placement counsellors work with appropriate client presentations and are supported to practise ethically, reflectively, and within their level of competence.
Placements include access to the wider Cherry Tree Therapy Centre community, alongside clear expectations, boundaries, and support structures. We aim to create a placement environment that feels containing rather than overwhelming.
Yes. Placements may be available at our centre in Henley-on-Thames, subject to availability and suitability.
Placement counsellors usually work with clients presenting with common difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, and life challenges. More complex work is reserved for qualified therapists.
Placement counsellors are supported through clear processes, access to the Cherry Tree Therapy Centre community, and reflective practice. Counselling Supervision is required, and additional group support may be available.
Yes. Placements usually involve a minimum time and session commitment to ensure continuity for clients and meaningful learning for trainees.
Placements are training roles and do not guarantee paid work. However, some counsellors go on to continue working from the centre once qualified, subject to availability and fit.
