Elizabeth Oatten

Elizabeth Oatten Counsellor

Elizabeth Oatten

Elizabeth Oatten offers integrative, trauma-informed therapy that supports meaningful change.

You may be:

  • feeling uncertain, stuck, or overwhelmed
  • managing stress or at risk of burnout
  • experiencing impostor syndrome or low self-esteem
  • navigating relationship difficulties, loss, or a significant life transition
  • living with anxiety or depression, or
  • carrying the weight of unresolved trauma

Whatever you’re facing, Elizabeth offers compassionate and collaborative counselling to help you explore your experiences, develop your inner resources, embrace authenticity, and fulfil your personal goals.

Elizabeth’s Approach

Elizabeth believes our difficulties stem from the complexity of being human—shaped by personal history, thoughts, emotions, instincts, behaviours, relationships, and the world around us. These elements influence our story and the meaning we attach to our lives.

That’s why she takes a holistic whole-person approach, personalised to your unique story.

Grounded in a trusting therapeutic relationship, you will meet your challenges with openness and curiosity, becoming aware of the patterns, beliefs, and emotions that may be holding you back.

Through this process, you will gain:

  • Self-awareness – to engage more mindfully with yourself and others
  • Self-compassion – to nurture a kinder relationship with yourself
  • Empowerment – to recognise your strengths, build confidence, and foster your autonomy
  • Resilience – to adapt, grow, and find opportunities even in difficulty

Together, these qualities enhance your wellbeing and enrich your sense of self, allowing you to reclaim your narrative — so you can live with greater intention and become the author of your own story.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth’s interest in emotional and psychological health has been informed by both personal and professional experiences — including the transformative impact of her own therapy. After a career in the corporate world, she decided to retrain as a counsellor.

Training

Elizabeth trained at the highly regarded Metanoia Institute in London.

Her training encompassed three complementary modalities—Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Transactional Analysis. These form the foundation of her integrative counselling, enabling her to tailor therapy to your individual needs while incorporating trauma-informed practice.

Qualifications

Her qualifications are:

  • BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling
  • Level 6 Clinical Diploma in Humanistic Counselling
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

She undertakes regular professional development to ensure her work remains ethical, reflective, and effective.

She is a registered member of the BACP and adheres to its ethical framework.

Corporate Background

Elizabeth’s corporate background gives her an understanding of the pressures and the mental and emotional toll of high-demand environments.

She applies this knowledge to her counselling, encouraging clients to nurture healthier relationships with work, strengthen boundaries, foster self-efficacy, and cultivate resilience—so they can thrive both personally and professionally.
