Some people come to therapy with a clear sense of what they want to explore. They may be aware of a specific difficulty, pattern, or life event that feels important to talk about. Others arrive with something much less defined, a vague sense that something isn’t quite right, a feeling of being stuck, unsettled, or not themselves anymore. Both ways of arriving are completely welcome. There is no expectation that you come with the “right” words, a diagnosis, or a clear plan. We can start exactly where you are, and allow understanding to develop gradually, at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
I offer in-person therapy in Henley-on-Thames, as well as walk-and-talk therapy in the surrounding area. For some people, sitting in a quiet, contained room provides a sense of safety, privacy, and focus. For others, being outdoors, moving side by side, and letting conversation unfold more naturally can make it easier to speak openly, particularly if sitting face-to-face feels intense or restrictive. There is no right or wrong choice. We can think together about which setting might feel most supportive for you, and it’s also possible to use a combination of both as your needs change over time.
At your pace, we can gently explore a wide range of experiences, including low mood, stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss, a sense of overwhelm, or a more general feeling of unease that’s hard to pin down. Therapy doesn’t require you to relive everything in detail or push yourself beyond what feels tolerable. My role is to be alongside you, offering a steady, non-judgemental space where we can begin to make sense of what you’re carrying and how it’s affecting you.
