Stephanie Chick addiction counsellor

Stephanie Chick

Stephanie Chick is a qualified integrative therapist with 18 years of counselling experience, specialising primarily in addiction treatment and developmental childhood trauma. For the past 12 years, she has worked with The Priory Hospital Group, where she has managed two of their inpatient treatment programmes. In addition, Stephanie has run a successful private practice for 10 years.

Stephanie is highly experienced in helping clients overcome addiction and co-dependency issues, and in supporting those recovering from the effects of developmental and relational trauma. Addictions Stephanie has worked with include all substance and behavioural (process) addictions, and she has experience supporting clients with eating disorders and co-morbidity issues. Her approach combines professional expertise with deep empathy, providing clients with a safe, confidential space to explore their experiences and move towards healing and self-understanding.

She also works with a broad range of issues, including bereavement, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low self-esteem, workplace stress, and the impact of someone else’s behaviour. Stephanie is especially passionate about empowering survivors of domestic abuse and coercive control to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

Throughout her career, Stephanie has worked in varied settings, including the Prison Service, private hospitals, and rehabilitation clinics, as well as in community roles supporting children and young people with substance misuse. Alongside her individual work, she is an experienced group psychotherapist and has worked with couples and families in treatment environments.

She currently works within a private residential treatment programme in central London, supporting young people aged 14–21 who are facing mental health challenges and addiction. Her role focuses on delivering bespoke therapeutic group sessions, tailored to meet individual needs and developmental stages.

She is also an experienced interventionist, supporting families and loved ones to plan and deliver targeted interventions for both adults and young people. This work spans all stages of addiction, from early engagement through to sustained recovery. Her approach is tailored to each individual, using therapeutic techniques that build insight, enhance motivation, support behavioural change, and strengthen relapse prevention and long-term emotional wellbeing.

Stephanie’s integrative and humanistic approach is rooted in empathy and a strong belief in each person’s capacity for change and recovery. Drawing on her training in 12-step facilitation, DBT, and trauma therapy, she tailors her work to meet the unique needs of every client.
