Company Director. Integrative Counsellor, Group Facilitator and Trainer

About Me

Barry Redman embarked on his career as an integrative counsellor and coach after personal experience showed him how valuable counselling can be in healing old wounds, changing unwanted and worn-out coping mechanisms and inspiring real long-lasting change.

At the start of his career, Barry worked as a sustainability consultant, he was passionate about the external environment. During his inner journey, he was inspired to change his professional direction, return to university, and retrain to work with internal environments.  Both environments are still important to Barry, he understands that we need to take care of both, and nurture both, in order for them to be sustainable and not suffer burnout.

Barry chose to study for a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching. This ground-breaking BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited course allows him to work with various issues using many well-researched approaches to counselling. The framework gives space to explore issues, understand and heal old wounds, and once this work is done it encourages a vital question to be explored. Clients often say, ‘I’ve talked about everything, I understand it, but now what?’ Integrating counselling with some coaching allows the ‘Now what?’ to be addressed in the counselling space (if needed).

Personally, Barry has attended men’s groups, various workshops, and seminars to deepen his understanding of himself and others. He feels that we never stop learning about ourselves and others, so he regularly partakes in activities that support his professional development.

Attending counselling sessions may not always be easy, the first step can be scary. He understands this and knows that life can be challenging at times. He recognises difficulties and anxieties in the therapeutic journey and responds sensitively and empathically to this.

Barry Redman is one of the main group facilitators at the Cherry Tree Therapy Centre. He has years of experience in leading groups and working with individuals. He has experience working with clients struggling with addiction, anxiety, stress, depression, loss, and identity issues as well as many other issues.

He is supportive, encouraging, non-judgemental, empathic, and where needed gently challenging. Barry is happy to work both online and in person at the Cherry Tree Centres at both Henley-on-Thames and Buckhurst Hill.
