Julia Foskett

Family Therapist and Relationship Counsellor

Julia Foskett has worked in the NHS as a Family Therapist for the past 25 years, working with various children’s emotional difficulties and challenges.  Family therapy focuses on supporting parents and siblings and the extended family as part of the work.

In addition, Julia has worked as an independent Systemic Psychotherapist developing a practice in couples therapy for the past 15 years.  The work involves seeing partners together,  or individuals wanting to discuss relationship issues on their own.

Julia Foskett also has worked in the field of Eating Disorders for the past 10 years, both in the NHS and privately.

Julia says:

De-stigmatising mental health and drawing on strengths and personal resources are key values in work, as well as inclusivity and welcoming diversity in issues presented and voices needing to be heard.

“Talking about emotions can be daunting and starting to face trauma or simple day-to-day emotional difficulty is a courageous step.  Putting people at ease and helping develop trust is vital to clients feeling able to talk about difficult things in their life.

The sessions are about a space for my clients to have different conversations with a family member, or on their own, which might help change unhelpful patterns.  Essentially, it is for me to join with those conversations and value client’s strengths and things that work, as well as discussing distressing points in people’s lives.”
