Support when your relationship feels strained, stuck, or uncertain
Most relationships go through difficult periods. You might feel caught in repeated arguments, growing distance, loss of trust, or a sense that communication has broken down. Some couples arrive feeling close to separation; others know something isn’t working but aren’t sure how to talk about it safely.
Relationship difficulties can feel isolating. You may worry about making things worse, saying the wrong thing, or whether it’s already too late. Sometimes both people want change but feel stuck in patterns they can’t shift on their own.
At Cherry Tree Therapy Centre, we offer relationship counselling for couples in all types of relationships. Therapy provides a balanced, neutral space to explore what’s happening between you and consider what support might help, whether that’s strengthening the relationship or navigating separation with care.
Relationship counselling focuses on the health and well-being of the relationship itself. Sessions are structured to give all parties equal time and attention, with the therapist remaining neutral and non-judgemental. Individual histories may be explored where they help explain what’s happening between you, but the work stays focused on the relationship dynamic.
Some couples attend to rebuild trust, intimacy, or connection. Others come to support difficult decisions around separation or divorce. Where appropriate, counsellors may work alongside mediators to support the emotional aspects of separation, helping things feel clearer and more contained.
We offer:
Relationship counselling (sometimes called couples or marriage counselling) focuses on the dynamics between partners, rather than individual therapy alone. The aim is to support communication, understanding, and decision-making within the relationship.
Relationship counselling is open to people in all types of relationships. This includes couples, non-monogamous relationships, polyamorous or throuple relationships, and LGBTQ+ relationships. The focus of therapy is on the relationship dynamics and the people involved, rather than labels or structures.
