Kate England is an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor working with adults aged 18 and over at the Cherry Tree Centre in Henley. She is a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Kate has worked with individuals from many different backgrounds and recognises that sometimes life can be hard. She believes that those in emotional difficulty deserve acceptance and compassion and brings this into her therapeutic relationships.  Her aim is for her clients to live happier lives, free from mental tension.

Her practice, Ibex Therapy, is named after an animal that seems to epitomise adaptability and flexibility in a harsh mountain environment. She believes these traits are important for a healthy mind that can respond to the challenges of life.

Kate England has spent several years volunteering with the survivors of sexual abuse, both as a counsellor and on helplines. This has given her experience with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She has a particular interest in working with trauma and has received additional training in this area.

As a therapeutic counsellor, Kate approaches therapeutic work by predominately integrating Person Centred and Psychodynamic theories. The latter sometimes includes an exploration of past events. The processing of these events can help bring the unconscious to the conscious, offering increased self-awareness. This can lead to a reduction in unhelpful behaviour patterns. It can also help reduce the symptoms of trauma.

• Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
• Walk and Talk Counselling – Ecotherapy Practice in the Outdoors

• BSc (Hons) Zoology

Counselling does not always have to be face-to-face in a counselling room or online. Nature can have a positive, uplifting impact on mental health and therefore Kate offers Walk and Talk Therapy in the local area.
